The challenge
Heavily corroded support brackets had to be removed and replaced on a high-level industrial structure. The original Unistrut had been welded directly to the structure and was vulnerable to deterioration.
The solution
LRA removed the failed components and welded substantially thicker mild-steel tabs to the structure. The tabs received the same three-coat protective system used on the surrounding steelwork. Stainless-steel Unistrut was then bolted to the coated tabs, retaining stainless durability while the coating helped separate the dissimilar metals.
