The challenge
Partial blast cleaning was required inside a flour silo before application of food-grade, polyurethane-based Acothane DW. The surrounding surfaces and downstream production equipment had to remain protected.
The solution
LRA prepared the designated steel surfaces to Sa 2½. Bespoke shielding, designed and manufactured for the task at minimal additional cost, produced a crisp transition between prepared and retained coatings. Removing the lower hopper section created a larger access and rescue opening and prevented debris entering downstream equipment.
